SkillHunt Browser Extension

Hunt AI skills directly from GitHub and add them to the Asterism registry with a single click. Earn XP for discovering great skills!

Developer Mode Installation

  1. 1.Clone the repository or download packages/browser-extension
  2. 2.Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions/
  3. 3.Enable "Developer mode" in the top right corner
  4. 4.Click "Load unpacked" and select the browser-extension folder
  5. 5.The extension icon should appear in your toolbar

Usage

Hunting from GitHub

  1. 1. Navigate to any skill file on GitHub (e.g., a SKILL.md or .cursorrules file)
  2. 2. Look for the "Hunt this Skill" button in the file header
  3. 3. Click the button to hunt the skill
  4. 4. If not logged in, you will be prompted to sign in
  5. 5. The skill is added to the registry and you earn XP!

Using the Popup

  1. 1. Click the extension icon in your browser toolbar
  2. 2. View your stats: skills hunted, total XP, and day streak
  3. 3. When on a skill file, hunt directly from the popup
  4. 4. Quick links to SkillHunt, Progress, and Leaderboard

Permissions

The extension requires these permissions:

  • storage - Store authentication data locally
  • activeTab - Access the current tab for skill detection
  • Host permissions - Access github.com and joinasterism.com

Troubleshooting

Button does not appear

Make sure you are viewing a supported skill file (SKILL.md, .cursorrules, etc.) in blob view. Try refreshing the page.

Authentication issues

Click the extension icon and try signing in again. You can clear extension data from chrome://extensions if needed.

Hunting fails

The skill must pass security scanning. If a skill with the same name already exists, it cannot be hunted again.
